WELCOME ADDRESS FROM CONGRESS CHAIRMAN
Dear distinguished guests and colleagues,
1
On behalf of Vietnam Veterinary Association and Nong Lam University Ho Chi Minh City, it is my pleasure to welcome you to participate the 19th Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) Congress held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in Septemper 2016.
1
The 19th FAVA Congress in 2016 aims to strengthen the collaboration of Asian veterinary professions to reach optimal health for people, animals and environment. By joining the congress to discuss issues of mutual concerns and solutions, we can obtain excellent knowledge and updated information from Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The Congress is proposed to welcome about 1500 delegates throughout the world working in livestock production, with companion animals, and related fields (animal care, management, veterinary medicine, nutrition, equipment, veterinary education and so forth). Therefore, the congress will have excellent international and regional speakers in key lectures, plenary sessions and free paper presentations. The planned program will consist of 8 sectors in which manuscripts can be submitted.
1
Besides attending the congress, our guests could take this opportunity to visit an active city like Ho Chi Minh City as well as natural and peaceful villages in the rural, meeting with friendly people. With just one or more extra days spent, you can also have chance to discover charming beaches and famous islands such as Phu Quoc or Con Dao which is only 1 hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City.

By such attractive events, I look forward to welcoming all veterinarians, practitioners, and valuable guests to Ho Chi Minh City, the most dynamic city of Vietnam, to enjoy our warm congress.

· WELCOME ADDRESS FROM FAVA PRESIDENT
Dear colleagues,
It is my pleasure to extend to you an invitation to the 19th Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) Congress to be held in Ho Chi Minh City from 6th - 9th September 2016.
The 2016 FAVA Congress has as its theme:
“The Collaboration of Asian Veterinarians in the One-Health Concept”
This theme reflects not only Asia’s geographic & increasing economic importance but the region’s significance as a front-line of emerging & re-emerging diseases of veterinary and human health importance. In an increasing globalised world – both economically & epidemiologically – the veterinary profession has a vital & pre-eminent role in the monitoring, assessment & prevention of agricultural, animal production and zoonotic diseases.
FAVA 2016 will be an excellent learning, sharing and networking platform for veterinarians from the Asia-Pacific region. And to ensure a program that will be of interest and relevance to veterinarians throughout Asia, our wonderful hosts, the Vietnam Veterinary Association, have brought together renowned speakers from our region and beyond. The planned program will provide continuing education opportunities in all fields of veterinary endeavour, with world-class content on production animal and companion animal medicine, veterinary public health, veterinary education and animal welfare.
I look forward to welcoming all fellow veterinary practitioners to Ho Chi Minh City. It is one of Asia’s most exciting and beautiful cities - and I’m sure, like me, it will become one of your favourites.
See you in Vietnam,
Dr. Shane Ryan
President
